Paul Pogba banned for 4 years for doping

Four-year ban from football after testing positive for testosterone

Paul Pogba has been banned for four years for doping.

The France international and Juventus midfielder was suspended in September after testing positive for testosterone. Pogba won the World Cup with France in 2018, two years after Manchester United signed him for a record £89 million, making him the world's most expensive footballer.

Pogba, who turns 31 in March, came on as a substitute for Juventus in the Serie A match against Udinese on August 20, but tested positive for the banned substance testosterone. Italy's national anti-doping authority suspended Pogba, and the Italian Sports Prosecutor's request for a four-year suspension for Pogba was granted.

The court said Pogba breached anti-doping rules by detecting a prohibited substance containing a "non-endogenous testosterone metabolite", adding that the results were "consistent with an exogenous origin of the compound in question".
