Liverpool fans are calling Moises Caicedo's theory telling after the League Cup final against Chelsea.
Liverpool fans have been speculating about Moises Caicedo following his actions after the League Cup final.
Liverpool defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the League Cup final at Wembley on Sunday, with Brigil van Dijk's 118th-minute winning goal breaking Chelsea's hearts. The win means Liverpool are officially the most successful English club in history, with manager Jurgen Klopp certain to leave the club with at least one trophy in his final season at Anfield.
Liverpool's victory was made even more impressive by the fact that they had to rely on inexperienced players due to injuries. With Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Dominik Szoboszlai and Darwin Nunez sidelined, Klopp has faith in his talented young players and they did not let him down.
Liverpool fans loved seeing Jaden Duns and Bobby Clarke celebrate after the match, but Chelsea duo Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia's contrasting emotions also caught the eye. The two midfielders, aged 22 and 20 respectively, have refused to join Anfield this summer, preferring to join Pochettino's team.
Chelsea parted with £53m to sign Lavia from Southampton and paid Brighton £115m for Caicedo, a record British fee. Full-time Caicedo, who angered Liverpool by injuring Ryan Gravenberch, sat on the grass looking dejected as Lavia, who was not in the Chelsea squad, appeared on the pitch to console him.
Caicedo failed to justify his price tag at Stamford Bridge, with Liverpool fans suggesting after the match that he would be better off joining the team than Chelsea.
“Good coaches make a difference. "Caicedo will cook better under Klopp," one fan wrote.
Another fan suggested: "Caicedo would have been better under Klopp and with [Alexis] Mac Allister, but he's built that bridge."
A growing number of fans are suggesting that Caicedo's decision to work with Pochettino rather than Klopp was the wrong one. "He will definitely become a better player. Pochettino is crap but Klopp knows how to get the best out of his players and Caicedo needs to grow," one fan wrote. But many Liverpool fans aren't bothered by Caicedo's disdain for the team.
"Caicedo probably looks better in Klopp's LFC team," said another fan, "but his value is still low, probably over £100m." So is Lavia and her stupid price.
