Man Utd deny Ederson ‘deal is 100% off’ with the Red Devils still ‘fighting’ to seal transfer

Despite reports on Friday night, Man Utd insiders maintain that a deal to capture Atalanta midfielder Ederson is not entirely off.
In an effort to provide Michael Carrick with everything he needs for another successful season, the Red Devils are trying to close deals for two or three midfielders this summer.
Andrey Santos, a midfielder for Chelsea, signed a contract with Manchester United on Friday after passing a physical. The deal is expected to be revealed over the weekend.

With Fabrizio Romano stating at the start of June that a transaction was "100 per cent confirmed," a deal for Ederson was also thought to have been finalized.

Romano wrote on X: ‘Manchester United and Atalanta have now completed all documents for €45m package deal for Ederson

‘All done and player set to sign later on this summer but all agreed with Ederson since May.

‘First signing: 100% confirmed.’

Over the past few days, there have been some concerning rumors that Ederson requires a second physical due to worries over his fitness at Manchester United.

Additionally, the Italian transfer insider provided a new update on Friday night, stating that Man Utd had "changed their plans" and that the deal for Ederson was now absolutely off.

Romano wrote on X: ‘EXCL: Éderson to Manchester United, deal OFF and considered as collapsed as Man Utd informed Atalanta. Atalanta believe Éderson is 100% fit and will welcome the midfielder back as part of their squad, as Man United changed their plans. Éderson won’t join #MUFC.’

In order to keep Ederson, Serie A team Atalanta now plans to offer him a new contract, according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira.

Schira wrote on X: ‘Excl. – #Atalanta consider #Ederson in perfect health despite the deal collapsed with #ManchesterUnited and are set to offer to the Brazilian midfielder a contract extension with an increase in salary to keep him. Ederson’s contract currently expries in 2027 (1,8M/year).’
