Ballboy rejects Mohamed Kudus' request after West Ham striker scores against Newcastle United
After the West Ham star scored against Newcastle United on Saturday, the ball carrier blatantly ignored Mohamed Kudus' requests.
Kudus scored a controversial goal late in first-half stoppage time to give the visitors a 2-1 lead at St James' Park. Newcastle were unhappy with referee Robert Jones allowing West Ham a quick free-kick, which resulted in Jarrod Bowen changing the direction of the ball and Kudus firing past Martin Dubravka.
The goal gave David Moyes' side the lead for the first time, as Michail Antonio converted an early penalty from Alexander Isak with a smart strike. After putting the Hammers in front, Kudus ran towards the sign to celebrate with a trademark move.
This season, the Ghanaian forward developed a reputation for participating in playful celebrations, including sitting on stools used by baseball players. Kudus tried to do the same at St James' Park, but the Newcastle players had other ideas.
When the 23-year-old assailant approached the baseball player and asked if he could use a chair, the boy stared blankly at him and refused to move. As Kudus begged him to stand, West Ham team-mates Lucas Paqueta and Tomas Soucek led him away and he sat at the scoreboard to celebrate.
In an interview with West Ham's official club website in December, Kudus explained that his celebrations had no real meaning other than the fact that he just wanted to rest and enjoy his surroundings. West Ham increased their lead just two minutes into the second half, this time with Kudus contributing.
The visitors launched a brilliant counter-attack, with Kudus running up the left flank and passing the ball to Bowen in the middle, who calmly slotted the ball past Dubravka. West Ham are hoping to boost their hopes for next season's European football and currently sit seventh in the table.
